One of the earlier firms to move out of the city centre, McDonald Leong lawyers merged its two locations (Flinders Mall and Deeragun) into one practice on Thuringowa drive in 1998.
McDONALD LEONG LAWYERS is in its 22nd year of practice with long-time partner, Linda Leong, now sole principal following Mark McDonald’s retirement in May.
As a firm that focuses on servicing mums and dads and people in business it made sense for McDonald Leong Lawyers to base themselves on Thuringowa Drive.
“We saw the growth of families and business in the Thuringowa area and decided we had to move with
that growth,” Linda says.
“By basing ourselves on Thuringowa Drive, we are still accessible to our clients in the Northern Beaches and, with parking in front of our building, clients don’t have to struggle to find a park.”
Since moving to Thuringowa Drive, McDonald Leong Lawyers has grown with Townsville’s population. The firm has expanded from a two-solicitor firm to a firm now employing six solicitors, a trainee solicitor and eight administration staff that are involved in up to 500 matters at any one time.
McDonald Leong Lawyers has four main areas of practice: Litigation, Family Law, Conveyancing and Wills and Estates, with each area headed by experienced solicitors.
“Everyone in the firm is considered a key player and puts in 100 per cent. Our office is like one large family who works together to get the best result for every client,” Linda says.
At McDonald Leong Lawyers, practitioners have the freedom to devote whatever time is needed to individual files without question. Clients are not treated as a number and the firm appreciates that each client’s issue is unique.
Members of the firm play an active role in many community events and the firm sponsors a number of local junior sporting teams, charity events such as the recent Relay for Life, and community events such as the Townsville Eisteddfod.
With a long-term commitment to Townsville, McDonald Leong Lawyers is here to stay, as is Linda Leong, who has no intention of retiring anytime soon. “I still love working in law and advising
clients. Some clients’ families have been with us for three generations and I’m passionate about continuing to provide the professional and personal service we’re known for.”
